Quote of the Week #1

Ok I thought it would interseting to do a quote thing because there are a lot of cool quotes some people might or might not have already heard. So I will try for atleast one a week.

"The Moving Finger writes: and, having writ, Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it."

From The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam

I won't tell you my interpreation of this poem yet because I want you to write your own interpretations first.

P.S Feel free to e-mail me. I don't mind.

Fly on. Fly free,

That's a good quote. I knew I'd heard it before, so I looked it up. Turns out that I actually learned that "Rubaiyat" is a Persian root for the number four--implying how the writings are grouped into sets of four rhyming lines. I guess it means that you really have to watch what you say, only say what you mean, because you can't just take it back. And if you cross the boundries someone has, you can't get back over as easily as you got in. Like, the Line you can't cancel would be whatever upsetting thing you've said. Deep quote; I guess maybe this interpretation is probably wrong and the real meaning went over my head. But that's why I'm totally claiming it as mine!

Hey, I JUST remembered I loved this quote--I have it written down someplace:

"For some we loved, the loveliest and the best
That from his Vintage rolling Time hath prest,
Have drunk their Cup a Round or two before,
And one by one crept silently to rest."

It's from the same set. I think this one is kind of sad; like we all have fun when we can, but we move on eventually when it ends and nothing's as good after. Or that we take advantage of stuff while we're young, but know it has to end when we grow up to be mature adults.

OK, maybe I'll just be a mature child,

Yeah I can see you are a very mature person. Yeah actually your interpretation of the poem is pretty much spot on to what I had in mind. That is also a cool poem I have never heard it before.

'Course I'm mature--I cook (cereal, toast, eggs, brownies), I clean (my room): the only thing stopping me from moving out is age (darn it, three and a half years is TOO LONG), a couple thousand dollars (I also need a job and to complete highscool/college), and my parents. They believe that as long as THEY are the ones who've fed me for my life up 'til now and I'm still underage that NO I can't move in with a friend to an apartment in New York a LONG ways away where they'll never hear from me again even if I'd totally ROCK on broadway.

rockin' a backyard band for now,

PS: unsure where other person got their many quotes...but i agree, microwaves are freaky. But cell phones are freakier because they COULD be giving people deadly brain tumors from over-usage.
