Along came a spider

This is the funniest thing I have heard in a LONG time. A biologist in East Carolina University has discovered a new species of trapdoor spider. That is not the funny part don't worry. While there is a strict rule to naming spiders as long as you follow the the rules you can use the second name for what ever you want apparently. Well on to the point this scientist Jason Bond discovered the spider and named it "Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi" after his favorite musician Neil Young. Jason says he loved Neil's music and has great appreciation for him as an activist for peace and justice. Well thats it for today.
If I where to name a spider it would be Arachnid fluffiest. How about you?

Fly on. Fly free,

OK, I was just looking through some old posts, and this is one I can relate to, but you don't have to respond or anything. In my science class, we actually talked about naming things, and how the first name was the genus and the second was the species. Latin (once dead, now coming back--YAY!) was once the official language to name all new species. When it died out, people made up random names. So apparently, these two ultra-competetive scientists got into a battle of names, naming new species things like "Smith (or w/e the other scientist's name was) hater". Well, before they came up with a rule saying the name had to at least SOUND Latin, someone discovereed a new genus AND a new species at the same time. So the Genus was "Ha" (the Genus is always capitolized) and the species was "haha" (second name/uncapitolized). So the insect or was "Ha haha".

happy to see I'm not the ONLY one into funny scientific names like the total nerd I think people secretly think I am,

PS: My spider would have to be "(Insert any arachnid Genus here) creepycrawlicus". Spiders are NOT my favorite creatures. Or my second favorite. Or my favorite at all. I guess it's hate/love, as long as they keep their distance. Behind glass. In another room with a padlocked door...
